Klimt designed this mosaic frieze for the marble-clad dining room of banker Adolphe Stoclet's villa by Josef Hoffmann, executed by Wiener Werkstätte workshops.
The scheme comprises the spiralling Tree of Life flanked by the standing figures Expectation and Fulfilment, plus the abstract Knight panel.
Working-scale studies are divided between the MAK in Vienna and other collections, while the frieze itself remains in the house.
